Despite the popularity of online marketing, printed booklets continue to be a proven and successful promotional tool. Whether used on their own or alongside other traditional and online campaigns, booklets are invaluable and effective vehicles for getting your message to your market. While printed booklets continue to be a major part of many companies’ marketing mix, there are a few ways to ensure that yours stands out from the crowd. Here are 6 tips to get the best from your printed booklet.

1) Get the perfect cover

It’s the first part of your printed booklet that anyone will see, so make sure the cover makes people want to look inside, or all your work is in vain. Your cover should be well designed and clear in its message. You want to immediately grab attention and encourage readers to open your booklet to find out more.

2) Good design is vital

If you’re not sure about the design, bring in a professional. A poorly designed or tacky looking booklet will turn off readers and make your business look unprofessional. We print booklets for a huge range of customers, from small businesses to large corporations, so have a look at our website to see examples of good, effective design. We offer advice and even templates you can download to help you with your artwork.

3) Use only great

Even the most beautifully designed and professionally printed booklet won’t be read if the content is poor. Your content should be clear and easy to read. Think like your customers. Use copy that they’ll understand and can easily follow.

4) Use only great images

All your images need to be at a resolution of 300dpi at the final printed size. Images which look good on the web will look blurred and pixilated in print. If you’re unsure of image quality, contact our team or have a look at our website for advice. Avoid generic stock images. They can make your booklet look bland and unoriginal, so if you need to use stock photography, try to pick original, real looking images.

5) Decide on your binding

We offer several binding options. Saddle stitching, in which the pages are bound together by staples along the spine, is perfect for booklets of around 48 or less pages. For larger booklets, like thick catalogues or magazines,Perfect Bound, where the pages are bound with adhesive along the spine, is ideal. With Wiro Bound, the document is held together with metal wire fed in a spiral through holes punched in the pages. This method is commonly used for reports and reference material of up to 380 pages, where the book may be required to sit completely flat when open.

6) Choose the right paper

As important as the design is the correct paper choice for your booklet. Depending on your target market and the contents of your booklet, you can choose from a huge range of quality and luxury styles and finishes. We supply a large variety of paper weights and styles in silk, matt and gloss paper. Your cover may be the same weight (known as self covering), or a thicker paper and different finish than the inner pages. The right paper choice will really make a difference to how your booklet looks and feels, adding value to your brand.

It may seem like there’s a lot to consider. Fortunately, digitalprinting.co.uk has over 20 years’ experience and we’re proud to supply quality, printed booklets to a wide range of satisfied customers, from small business to large corporations.
